It isn’t too early to talk about Christmas! It’s 52 days away folks (or use this countdown clock to figure out how far away it is *now*) and I don’t know about you but they will fly by for me. However you choose to celebrate and show love to your people this Christmas, I wanted to share Christmas gift ideas, some from causes I care about, so will be blogging some links over the next few weeks.
Toilet Twinning A great present for a family or group – £60.00 twins your loo with one in one of ten countries including Sierra Leone and Afghanistan . Your money goes towards enabling people in poor countries to have clean water, decent loos and hygiene education which helps prevent the spread of disease. You receive a fab, personalised certificate to hang in the loo at your end of the twin!
People Tree I recently discovered this wonderful fashion outlet who provide sustainable and fair trade fashion. They also have a fab range of jewellery, gifts and feature designers including Orla Kiely. I love them for many reasons but not least they give actual measurements for their sizings so you can work out if things will fit. Sign up for email offers and get 10% off.
Embrace the Middle East I’m admitting my bias here as I volunteer for this charity and took a load of photos for their Christmas catalogue but I wanted to draw your attention to a part pf their range I have nothing to do with! Their alternative gifts directly challenge poverty and injustice in the Middle East. They include literacy lessons for women, after school clubs and counselling sessions for kids, school equipment, therapy sessions for disadvantaged children, library funding, teacher training, food parcels, micro-loans and more. Then of course there are all Embrace’s Christmas gifts, Christmas decorations and food straight from the Middle East. You can also get free Carol Sheets and make your own Christmas Cracker sets.
National Trust membership Another possible treat from a family or group to another family or individual to an annual membership? We joined in the summer and have made our money back at least twice! Whatever you spend your money on, remember to check if your favourite charities are registered with EasyFundraising. Over 25,000 retailers are registered with them and raise money for over 55,000 causes.
